Answer to a request from Smiley Anders, Advocate Columnist, to describe, "You might be a 'Yat if ---------."

Smiley,

You might be a 'Yat and not an Ignatius dingbat if ya roll up your sleeves for yer poboys,

Cause Deanie's, Mother's, Parosol's, Schweggmann's, Short Stop and many other joints give us true natives these "delightful culinary toys,"

No matter what ya do,

Or how your Catholic Mother taught ya how to make a Roux,

Like Frank Davis, you're a "Naturally N'Awlins 'Yat" if you love foreigners like Smiley, his writers (all of us) and all the great wit he employs!

P.S. I'm gonna get Mayor Mitch Landrieu to give Smiley a "Key to the City" (Free poboys anytime/anywhere!), since he is such an ADVOCATE for my roots (even if they are below sea level!)

Now I know where it's 'Yat. Those roots run deep.

I understand the sentiment if not the words. Anyone who thinks of his roots as being "below sea level" can't be all bad. :-)
