A seed was gently planted
Far beneath the winter snow
So when the spring enchanted
This small bud would sprout and grow
To leave a bold impression
Unlike what had been before –
A most cherished expression
Of love to last forevermore.
Around the site so tender
Where the seed had come to rest
Was what the chill could render
Upon shrubbery at its best
Yet, while completely covered
This lone seed was sure to thrive –
Its purpose stayed and hovered
To ensure it would survive.
When the spring air was blatant
And the leaves formed on the trees
The seed that once seemed latent
There amid the icy breeze
Had become the strong foundation
For all things in life thereof
That remains an inspiration
As seen in my parents’ love.
