Poem Artwork

Oh my dear little one,
Mt heart stutters as I hold you close.
All of the preparation,
And the nervous anticipation,
Came not close to how I feel.

Three thousands miles
Is a very long way,
If you're driving,
But not by air.
She called me and said that they needed me.
I answered;
It won't be long and I will be there.

I was afraid of what it was,
That I might find.
After all, we measure our time in years.
It's a shame that our actions have been governed,
By our own anger and delicate fears.

For me, it was a joy that knows no bounds.
You see, my family had finally been found.
And when I held each of you in my loving arms,
It was with a simple gentleness,
And a father's desire to keep you from harm.

But soon it ended,
Just as quickly as it had begun,
And I'm left with this pain in my heart,
And it hurts, and I miss you, and yes, I'm stunned,
By the feeling of loss that follows me around.

We must never allow it,
To ever happen again,
For we're much too perfect when we're as one,
And that's a lesson we should learn but once.

So hold your baby close,
Yes, please do that for me,
And treat yourself with kindness,
And goodness in every degree.
Don't listen to tales and lies,
By those who hate and despise,
Simply open your own two eyes,
And see the truth that is all around you.
