Poem Artwork

Pass away,
O barren day of winter,
And take with you,
The shiver of early morn.
Let hope bring the thaw
Of seasons changing,
And the fullness
Of early bloom,
Erupting,
With the scent of earth renewing.

May the sun rise
And warm me,
And allow me to stand;
Bare skin in morning’s air,
And a wisp of dew
On fingertips,
Mesmerized by life,
And all that it means.

And may I inhale,
Lungs full
Of scented air,
That causes life to spring forth
From the very stones?
And may I find comfort
In all,
As I have dreamed it?
And may the extremes
Of youth,
Find others?
For it is peace that I long for,
And warmth,
And contentment of heart and soul-

Nothing more than I have given…
