Poem Artwork

What a beautiful life we live;
I cannot imagine a more glorious gift.
What a truly fabulous world this is,
No minor detail has been left amiss.

Some deny a higher power;
I cannot begin to imagine the pain,
Of trying to create, a shallow fable
Of such majesty,
That mortal understanding
Cannot begin to explain.

What is the painful consequence,
In accepting a spiritual domain?
What keeps science and divinity,
From joining in glorious refrain?

My world demands there be a God;
It lends meaning to my every day.
To imagine eternal darkness -
No family or friends -
Extracts purpose from this life
That I crave.

My faith demands that I reconcile,
With all others,
Whose convictions abide far from my own.
And it is with unbridled joy that I trust,
My merciful God,
To gather us in celestial home.

Jesus Christ is Lord!

My mind and spirit demand that it is so. And because that thought brings so much joy, I know that it is true. Can I just say again that I'm in love with your slanted rhymes--you little Emily, you. And I love how one line leads to the other so that you forget about the rhyme--don't get hung up on it, and yet it's there, smoothing over the tongue, telling you the words "belong". I love your poetry! Have an awesome week! --Charlie
