Satin and Darkness

Poem Artwork

He sat and gazed into the day,
Just as he did in rare moments,
For occasionally,
Life gave him no choice.
We are all children
To someone,
Even when cast to the wind,
Ignored,
Or worst of all,
Patronized.
How do you say that it hurts,
When you know
That you face only ridicule?
For there is no truth,
None that bears any but pain,
And your truth is only in who you want to be,
In who you must be,
For all of the warped reasons
Which are borne in your neglected mind.
I dream of Satin and Darkness,
Endless peace,
Where no pained labor
Is unnoticed,
Much worse than disregard,
As this suffering is inflicted
By she who was meant to heal.
Satin and Darkness brings rest,
And no self doubt,
But thoughts are left to wander,
And to fear that I am unloved.
So, my loving heart is tired,
Forever weakened by disregard,
And you stand laughing,
Inside,
But all I feel is your sneer
On my back,
As I walk away,
Dreaming of Satin and Darkness,
And a quiet peace at last…

Vindictive smirks haunt me still from highschool and junior high days. Careless jibes thrown aside like confettie by people who are supposed to love you most, and that's just what hurts the very worst. And sadly, people who are open by nature, get their hearts singed in the most enduring ways. For those kinds of hurts, I know from experience you let those who love you help you, and the one above you heal you-- can't be the other way around. So that's what you pray for. --Charlie

Another note: My sis below has had some pretty miraculous experiences. I've shared in a couple with her that I'll write about some time. I was going to write them here, but it's much too long and not mine fully to tell. Ask her sometime to share her part with you. --me again :)

I had an experience when I nearly died... it left me sometimes longing for home...that home from whence we came, where love and light abound...what I wouldn't give to have that peace in my heart always...
