Earth in Renewal

Poem Artwork

The world outside is melting
Into reds and yellow, and orange,
In the cycle of life and death,
Again,
After which will be reborn.

It is a magical metaphysical
World on which we live,
This sphere of fire and ice,
Full of organism and mineral,
The gamut of what is needed for life.

Ah, there is sadness,
When you see your world
Arise in flames,
But so is there beauty
As the planet sheds its skin,
And then begins the cycle again.

We are part,
And reflection of this home,
Giving to
And taking from,
In annual renewal
Among the stones.
Mother Earth in all her glory,
Nurtures and destroys,
At times with seeming indifference,
Such power does she enjoy.

That "seeming indifference" is what made me think. I like Charlie's comment (and humor) on this and I think that it is not Mother Earth's indifference that hurts us, it is our own.

--too, too true... but to enjoy it... well, she's not my friend anymore! ---Charlie

Wonderful appreciation for Mother Earth; I particularly like the third stanza. There is a deep sense of reverence here for nature and her laws.
