Challenging Change

Poem Artwork

Blindly roll the winds of change,
As nothing is stagnant
Lest buried deep within the ground,
And even then,
It is merely delayed.

With change is challenge,
And neither comes without fear,
Causing us to test the mettle
Of our souls,
For none likes change,
Until it has become the new routine.

There is crisis in all that we face,
And yet we are left helpless,
Lest for our single vote,
And our spirit,
Which some would seek to usurp.

So we are battered
By elements around us,
Mother Nature hard at work,
While our enemies make plots,
And we watch the benefits
Of being the most favored nation,
Evaporate,
As we fall into a state of decay,
Rust,
And poverty.

Pride precedes the downfall,
And we are ever proud,
The spawn of ignorance,
Hanging on the words of pitchmen,
With their tired routines,
Which are delivered with melodic voice,
Carrying us away,
To a land of hollow promises.

Destiny lies with every man,
According to the fate of his days,
The faith in his heart,
The goodness in his actions,
The truthfulness of his words,
And the intention of his soul:
God is the same for all.
Beware the message
Delivered by false prognosticators.

a new routine...a new norm... sad, that sometimes what the change brings does become routine or the norm; when if we would just stand up and take a stand against it-- we could change things for the better.

I visited that Land of Hollow Promises--it was freaky... thoughts rattled like skeletons from the trees, turned to powder, and then blew away. I barely made it back alive. (Thank heavens for poetry!)
