Poem Artwork

In my Golden age, as the Yellow Bell,

I serve twice a day at the temple's belfry

Surrounded by the echoed mountains.

This is my way of putting into practice

My meditation retreat and ask the mean

Of a good faith. As the Yellow Bell,

My sacred number totals 81 to display

Interrelation with the Triad of Heaven,

Earth and Man (3x3x3x3), which is

The general measure, the tuning fork,

The earthly voice uttered in the middle

Between the lasting relations of Heaven

And Man manifested thru the Yellow Toll.

From moment to moment I feel the lack

Of space and airfree at this secluded spot:

High peaks and their jagged cliffs, rapids

And waterfalls are so much compact here,

As if depicted on the ancient hang-scroll.

This little world's creation is just entirety

Of being-in-body; so, do not be surprised

That I produce the toll of the Central Key,

The global camertone, the pure voice

Of the remaining consciousness, which

Declares peace for long in all under heaven.

Reviews of "I'm the Yellow Bell"

The bell tolls for thee because you are the bell. A contemplative piece of writing if there ever was one. Sorta makes one wish he/she were a bell. Perhaps we are and don't know it. Sometimes I feel as sonorous as the tolling of a bell. The poem calls for scrutiny and exploration. Thanks. John
