Poem Artwork

As they say, a man in the pursuit

Of revenge, before maturing scheme

Of his reprisal, should dig two graves:

One for himself and another

For his bitter opponent.. .

A man in the pursuit of revenge

Would not break a lance with those

Who happened to witness the reprisal;

Nor would one, however easily

Made wrathful, wreak his resentment

On the brick suddenly fallen on his head.

In this way, all under the blue sky

Would be in peace, without the mess

Of assaults and slaughter, without

The penalties of death, blood feud

And destructive to both sides warfare; --

Such would be the issue of a proper course

For a person, family, community

And the whole country in the upshot.

So true, but unfortunately for the vast majority, this would be a fantasy never achievable.

I believe you are talking about the acrimonious bid for the presidency. An eye for an eye in the circus of revenge being played out this political season.
