Demeanour of the gentlemen Is tasteless as pure water, While that of the petty men Is sweet as infused liqueur. But the tastelessness Of the gentlemen's association Leads on to affection; And the sweetness Of the petty men to aversion. Demeanour of the petty men, However, has a certain room To be eventually improved, While that of the gentlemen Is to be let well alone. . .
