The sun is just taking off the horizon,
A frosty tube of beer isn't finished yet;
In my damp studio and in the backyard
There is nothing stronger than the taste
Of fresh wild mushrooms I've collected
Two days ago in the local undergrowth
To draw still life to put it up for auction.
The painting and mushrooms are drying
At a slow speed. It seems the dampness
Will not allow me to be in time for bids.
Judging from the picture, you will get plenty of bids, nothing like mushrooms in repose. The poem sets it up nicely. A different aroma in today's budding offering.
