a reading quarry
forty people came to view
who would have thought that's what they'd do
yet only a few left things to say
did the other laugh or get scared away?
did they look and say 'that's way too long'
or did they comment 'it doesn't belong'
and only said the words to self
leaving shadows lurking on the shelf
when they come back another day
to read again what might they say
I guess that time will hold the key
to this stories popularity.
