Like the dragon
Who rarely sleeps
I lie in fake repose
Watching with barely opened eyes
As through soft light you emerge
Like a phantom princess
Into the darkness of our bedroom

With a towel wrapped around your head
You reflect like a cameo
In the mirror above your dresser
As the warm aroma of your bath
Enters the room
With you

Muted patter of quiet steps
Stop as you lean against the bed
And merge in to the sweet fragrance of lotion
You apply all over your body
As you appear
Like an apparition
Through adoring eyes

And impatience has its way
As with my, “C’m ‘ere”
You slide across the bed
Into the touch of my welcoming arms
Which encircle your svelte body
As the sweet taste of your soft, moist lips
Touches mine
