Remebering the old Cowboys, boots and chaps and cowboys hats at one time that was where it was at.............

What's happened to those old
forty dollar a month Cowboys
Hustling their cows
on down the trail
Through the sun and rain
with only one thought
Keep em steady boys
Whipping up the dust
along the way
doing good
to make twenty miles

Morning starts before the break of day
shake out those boots boys
I hear cookie say
Get er while its hot
lots of grub waiting over here
flap jacks and beef
for one and all
just put on those boots
and jump to your feet
As he grabs the handle to the coffee pot

We line up one by one
shaking off sleep
in the wee hours before dawn
cup of "Arbuckle" in hand
sit down, still to tired to stand
Last nights memory
still fresh at hand

Stampede happened
such a sudden thing
Took us over an hour to catch
all those dab blasted things
Took out Charley
along the way
Gonna miss him
wiping my eyes still today

In sunshine or rain
it never stops
forever we travel
from day light till dusk
Evening comes way to late
But cows to market is a must

So Damn ready to sit a spell
grab some vittles,
son of a gun stew
big fluffy biscuits
Man it sure is good!

At the end of this run
I'll belly up
drink my fill
grab me a gal
for a little lovin
spend all my pay
But Hey,
there will always be another day!

Well those days are gone
lost in the wind
distant memory for some
for others part of some
story or movie
We'll never again see
all that you did
Cowboys full of courage
Cowboys who's trails
are now lost in the dust
Times came, and rest there you must....
