Gramp's bought her the year I was born
Never expecting one day
I'd make her my own
I look at her now
and remember back
Learning to shift her
as I drove out of sight
The paint is fresh
as when she was new
she still fits me
like a trusty old shoe
Man I remember
all the fun times I had
driving fast and driving so free
We named her "She Hasta"
was Gramp's idea
So she would last
the driving's by me
Windows down........
wind blowing in my face
I hurried along
at a pretty fast pace
I remember the dirt road
when gravel I hit
spinning around and around
dust clouds everywhere
trying to keep control
Stopped at last
just to find
My cousin cowered
in the floor board
Scared was not the words
she used that day
As she promised that I would pay
No damage done
Man what a rush
found there that day
among all that dust
Years have passed
I grew older
but then, so did she
Walking around her
she still brings me pleasure
and she is still my treasure!
I took driver's training on a '59 stick with a 6--no power. Three years later a guy I worked with bragged about the great car he bought from the school--same gray '59!
Love those pipes! Gave my '73 monte carlo to my nephew last year--over 300,000 miles. You can see it in my story about Jazz.
