This may seem to you eccentric;
as for me it's certainly pragmatic.
It drifts from Toronto, also from Kentucky;
I just happen to be so very lucky.
It all started when I was a kid;
now it seems like a sort of hybrid.
Radio signals bounce back from the ionosphere;
now digitally tuned, the old dial seems a little queer.
Why is this gift given to me;
amplitude modulation, I'm pretty carefree.
So many now, occupied with an iphone;
I just better keep an eye on that ozone.
For over fifty years I've enjoyed that radio;
contentment easy to find, just goes to show.
So if you'd like to know my little secret;
seek the simple things, you'll never regret.
Here it comes, fading in and out;
a long-lost song never makes me pout.
These little joys come to me at night;
reminiscing once again, a sure delight.
God creates man, man creates radio;
now my fulfillment, enjoying it in stereo.
So what's the point, why all the ballyhoo;
it's just easier to smile, distant signals anew.
Except for when commuting in a car, I was never much to listening to music (unlike Ed). I found it greatly distracting while doing serious work (although many did this kind of early multitasking, claiming that listening to music made them more productive). Maybe in the auto shop, the factory, or the barn, but not while trying to solve mathematical problems, serious writing, or accounting. Today, my greatest joy is watching television and movies after the fact on my computer. If I want a good song, it's only a Google and a YouTube away. And the video and sound quality tends to be better than the original.
PS. I can go to sleep to the sound of music either. I prefer silence or the crickets from outdoors to any other kind of artificial, so-called soothing sleep inducers.

But I like FM. BTW my antenna picks up more
Kentucky and Toronto here. :)
