A GREAT Historial poetic summary! I have interviewed dozens of WWII Vets. Most have sadly passed away. If they acted like these protesters are doing today they would have been humiliated to tears by their peers! My own mother worked 8-12 hours each day building radar sets during the war. That was 7 days a week on a rotating shift for Westinghouse corporation. She worked through Christmas and New Years 365 days a year for 3 years without taking one day off. Why? It's because she felt personally committed and thankful for freedom and liberty. Not saluting to the flag? That's totally disrespectful to the millions who fought and died protecting what the flag stands for. My mom knew that with every fiber of her body and she loved to show it. She is still alive at 95 and she cannot understand how stupid and uneducated many young folks are about our History. Yes, Jerry, it was and still is, the Greatest Generation. Soon they will be gone, we can only hope and pray for a miracle for this nation to carry-on. May God continue to bless the USA. Amen, my friend.
We're not pussy's today, and that was proved after 9/11. In '41, people were drafted. They had no choice but to fight. Today's military is volunteer. Plus there has always been people opposed to war. And don't forget, Trump never served. It was those pesky bone spurs ya know.
My dad got out of Annapolis in June (?) of '41 and was assigned to the Arizona and arrived the day before the attack, but his buddies took him up in the mountains for a birthday party (Dec. 6th) and they watched the whole attack from the top of Diamond Head...:-( -e-
I think Pres. Trump rather have peace than war. It is better to make friends than enemies. They say keep your enemies as friends and close to you. I am certain that Pres. Trump knows what he is doing. He has made a commitment himself to defend the citizens of America, give them peace. He is not about to go to wars to heighten his ego to prove how strong his weapons are. Any wars now will be Nuclear wars and may put an end to the world. Trump has put that into consideration as well.

You don't seem to understand history. We were in a deep depression and trying to get out of it. There was a great distrust of getting into another war to help Europe out while Hitler made an alliance with Russia and grew very strong without our intervention.
We sold steel to Japan that enabled them to build their Navy and Air Force, thinking they were only interested in China and Korea. We were arrogant to think that our Pacific Fleet was safe in one place. The war was prolonged because of our inaction until Pearl Harbor forced us into the war.
Today is much different. Iran and North Korea are not anything like Germany and Japan in terms of military strength or world threat. But war now with them with nukes in the picture would be nasty for civilian populations like those in Israel and South Korea. In the 21st-century wars like the 20th where millions of civilians were killed as nations tried to take over the world, are obsolete. Now, we must face cults and terrorism from delusioned autocrats. More of them probably within than without.
