Its coming folks!

Poem Artwork

winter's chill leads to bleak thoughts
bare branches
frozen streams and ponds
fierce north winds bite and lash

I scurry inside

shivering in front of the roaring fire
teeth chattering
near to a chill

a hand touches my shoulder

heavenly aroma triggers a smile
she hands me hot chocolate
I drink in her love

Another uniquely visual piece (like 'The Hitchhiker') that offers the reader more than just words. I'm discovering, as I get older Jerry, that the visual and artistic aspects of poetry become more and more predominant in my motivations. A poetic insight that resonates nicely with me. Well done. Winter can be warm and cozy with the right person beside you.

I believe that last line is key to your staying warm! Even without the roaring fire, I'm sure you'd stay toasty!! 'Love it!

Love ya!

That last stanza can warm up any frosty disposition. Enjoyed this, except I'm not ready for winter just yet.

Winter's chill can certainly conjure up warm moments. Unfortunately, those days are gone for you and I living down where images like you show rarely occur, warm hearths are not built into hovels and not used by many. But we can still be touched by a warm hand and hot chocolate if we are lucky.

But we both have fond memories of what you write.

So understated (except for the winter chill) and so full of meaning. Ditto Odin, love the last stanza as the emotional trigger. Another winner.

What I appreciate about this piece is the nature of the last stanza suggesting that the images could represent an ethereal enigma or a real being.

Thoroughly enjoyed.
