I put my pen to paper and these words just flowed out without my thinking. What's it mean?

We waited in silence For them to come back Knowing we had substance For them which they lacked For they had once been here For that which we had They said to be patient But we had gone mad We chewed up the resource They needed to live Our hearts had grown cold so We could not forgive We still wait in silence Our eyes hold no tears These souls with no feeling Breathe sighs no one hears Jane Noponen Perinacci

I love the poem. I like these rambling kind of poems where the words seem to make a mockery of sensibilities and sanity. What does it mean? Whatever you need it to mean, Jane, whatever you "need" it to be.
