The thoughts that exist during bouts of depression don't make sense at all when it's over (for awhile......)

Poem Artwork

Draw the drapes and pull the shades
I don't want to see the light
Turn my back on all that's real
Let denial's face be my zeal
Run away from all that's right
Living in eternal night

Give me darkness close my eyes
Let time pass in double time
Tell me that it's all a dream
Stop me when I start to scream
The sedation feels sublime
Where's the reason where's the rhyme

Sinking deeper every day
Wanting not to crawl back out
Comfort found within the cold
Was it not my soul I sold
Terrified of fact and doubt
What's it really all about

Dear Jane,
It's sometimes hard to find our way.
It's a cold world that we live in today.
Among the bright lights and singing songs.
Is a lonely heart that that been hurting way too long.
Christmas can be the loneliest time of the year.
Not everyone is alive with Christmas cheer.
So when you see a friend who seems lost and has gone astray.
Spend some time with them before, during and after Christmas day.
We are all on this journey to find meaning in life.
Some find it with faith in God, some with a husband or a wife.
But nothing seems to last forever except for the eternal one.
Yes, true happiness can be found in Father who sent His son.
Amen

Peace be with you, blessings in all that you do and may He surround you with love from his loving arms and fill your heart with joy everlasting!

It almost feels like there is some kind of satisfaction in depression and misery.
But I hope a little gleam of light will peek through the darkness of depressions night and guide you back to the warms and happiness of the day with its sunshine.
Look how many friends stand around you to comfort you

Good write Jane

Depression will take over if allowed...
If one (and many do in particular those with bi-polar who require medication to remain in balance) succumbs to it and you only spiral
downwards... Some do suffer from a condition called Dysthymia and/or
major depression there are many case histories where even electroshock therapy was pursued in a desperate attempt to solve it dramatically...

Also S.A.D which typically starts with the onset of winter and perceived to be due to hormonal changes thus causing attitudinal changes can be effectively most often helped with light therapy... tricking the brain as it were :)

But, carried on lol, it is understood why some can have this
feeling and a terrible feeling to have...

I hope you're not writing about your feelings, but writing about the problem of depression that I see on these pages quite often. Having been there, there is a way out, but it has to come from within in spending money on medicines and psychiatrists may be a waste of time.

Sweet Angel, lets go sit by a warm sunny window
(if it's cold outside)
& listen to the magic of the morning bird songs...

of course if that don't help
I gotta stash of Vanilla Kahlua
to splash in our fresh ground coffee

Yup, that just about sums it up, Jane. I spent decades suffering through mild to severe depression. Really, sometimes I think back and wonder how I survived it all.

Dear Jane,

It saddens me to think that the lady of beautiful smiles, the writer who amazes me with her talent, the lady who is a good, dear soul and I can imagine, is a loyal friend...is depressed! I hope you are just writing a poem and not depressed yourself. If you are, look around AD to see how many love you!

Powerful, poignant and sorrowful, Jane. Great piece, enjoyed much! The Depression part, I can't help with, but have been there. You kinda stretch out the pain, which it what it is.
