The shadows cast across the lawn of white
So black against the snow that winter's night
With wind the shadows danced as I gazed still
My chin in hands elbows on windowsill
Was entertained by nature's evening show
These dancing shadows moving 'cross the snow
It seemed the tips of branches reached to me
As if to make sure that their moves I'd see
I nodded so to let them know I saw
It seemed they bowed as I looked on in awe
Continuing this show until the morn'
Whence I to bed away from sill was torn
I'll go back to my windowsill tonight
To watch tree shadows giv'n by the moonlight
WHAT A FINE WORK, JANE...SO ENJOYED. I WONDER...SEEING THAT THIS WAS WRITTEN SOME TIME AGO, DO YOU STILL WATCH...TREE SHADOWS? LET ME KNOW. THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS
I would find this wonderful
I find myself at night watching the
tree shadows lit by moonlight across the
whiteness of the snow in my backyard and it's
lovely...
Some of us have too much time on her hands. But, on the other hand, what a beautiful thing to do rather than sit on the cell phone, oblivious of the beautiful environment around you, and waste time in something they call a “pastime.”
With a hot fireplace fire to my back, and my nose pressed against the cold window, I'll sit by the window sill, elbow to elbow with you, and watch the boney shadows of dead tree limbs shaking hands.
Dear readers, this is my third book of poems, and inside are a special collection of what have turned out to be not only MY personal favorites, but also the favorites of many of YOU. Some of these have never been available in print before...
