...no sleight of hand here, but mystical, magical, and marvelous for its "weight of the world-weary winsomeness" air of melancholy... there is an element a hint of the quality of an old Wordsworth poem about the "Leech-gatherer" on a lonesome moor in this simple poem, Jane. You work wonders with "The Man".
Ahhh . . . I related, and thought back when I would walk into a cafe or restaurant and order what I could afford. I would sit there trying to get the street smell off me.
It didn't appear this was that kind of man, but it did point to loneliness and a need to be close to people. This was/is one of your best my friend.
The picture drew me in right away! He looked old, weathered and possibly sad. I love this one, Jane. I thought I would find that he was homeless. The game of "what if" or "could this be?" have always been fascinating to me. The last four lines spoke to my heart. Yes, the tip is one thing, but feelings of the soul stay with us for a long time. Very, very good, Jane!
Interesting to notice other people- and wonder about stories hidden.

This is life as simple, mysterious and beautiful as life can be.
Full of questions we never get an answer on.
But......... do we always want to have all our questions answered ?!? It would take away the charm of life.
Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
