Oh, those warm days after the first frost, only tease us just before winter's cold blast.

Poem Artwork

The chill in the air
Told us to beware
The first frost has passed
It's Indian Summer

The very last breath
Before winter's death
Too bad it won't last
Just Indian Summer

Yard work to be done
Enjoying the sun
The dice have been cast
Stay, Indian Summer

The very last leaf
Fell much to my grief
You passed much too fast
Bye, Indian Summer

Love your verses, Jane! This is my favourite time of the year even though it is a sad time for me in many ways. Love and best wishes,

Love this poem, and let's hope this winter isn't as harsh as the last!

much too warm for this time of year and they say it will be with us for another week at least. Balmy 60 degree days when it should be in the low 40's.

My favorite time of year. Those few precious days when all was right in the world that take me back to college years and their glory. I would love to write more on this subject, but I wrote two poems to Indian Summer and Native Season years ago, so don't want to repeat myself.

Thanks for the reminder of something beautiful that doesn't happen here.

You're getting some really warmer temps this week just like we are, warm at least for November...but to live in Ohio one must love snow... <smile> -e-

Oh, couldn't agree anymore, Jane. Though I live in the south we have cold, very cold for us, winters. So I, like you, are enjoying this warmth while I can. Nice work on the poem.
