I celebrate the Winter Solstice.

Poem Artwork

See what three weeks holds her scepter
We will hold on
Winter Solstice herald better
Days growing long

Event so strong feel it pulling
I cannot leave
Then Spring's sprouts about are lulling
To life I cleave

When the darkness yields to daylight
Blues disappear
Dear warm rays of sunlight armour
You will appear

WE'RE 'TEMPERATE' CHILDREN...WE'LL NEVER GROW BORED WITH THE SEASONS AND THE CHANGES THEY BRING. WE CAN BID EACH ONE 'HELLO' OR 'GOODBYE' WITH LOVELY POEMS LIKE THIS ONE. AND THAT'S BECAUSE JUST WHEN WE BEGIN TO GET TIRED OF THE ONE WE'RE IN, HERE COMES A NEW ONE! WELL DONE, JANE AND THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

The nights are long.
The days are short.
But spring is coming,
I'm happy to report.

Hard to believe it is here, Jane...with longer days.

It's a bit early for the winter solstice. I assume you're getting a head start. On the other hand, dreaming now of spring with the winter full ahead, is pretty fanciful thinking, unless global warming is much greater than thought!

Oh boy, the last stanza is perfectly written. Yes indeed, "When the darkness yields to daylight" life is given back to us.

A positive spin on Winter Solstice. Instead of viewing the long stretch of winter ahead, we are actually approaching the season of Spring with the lengthening of daylight hours. Beautifully said!

You Look FatCalgary by RickthePoetWarrior

Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
