While out and about yesterday, I noticed the sides of the road. I told my passenger, "Fifty shades of grey"!!!!

Poem Artwork

Driving down the highway
Fifty shades of grey
On tree lawn to curbside
Tires from road do spray

Everything was pure white
'fore the salt truck came
Melting snow for traffic
Bringing bout the shame

New snow will be falling
Making roadways white
Fifty shades of grey will
Get whitewashed tonight

Love ya!

Salt on the road will turn snow,
into a grey slushy sludge,
and when it gets tracked into my house,
that's when I hold a grudge.

Personally I think they overdo it when they're out spreading salt. Last week the city spread salt in advane of a snow that never happened. They spread it so heavvy, it looked like our little side street had been whitewashed. It was actually created a salty dust when cars drve by.

Gray and grunge certainly has a way to insinuate itself onto those virgin white snowfalls that come this time of year. And nothing is dirtier than our good old highways or a coal-fired power plant.

Not your usual, but a very good one nonetheless.

The beauty of snow is enchanting while it lasts, but as you point out here, that isn't very long, ending up in 50 shades of grey. Looks horrible in the photo! I guess this is what I am missing. John
