Your eyes don't want to believe what they see at times......the mind is not itself at times.

Poem Artwork

Awakened scratching heard I now
Yes scratching in the wall somehow
Grandfather clock covered with dust
That scratching find the source I must

Slid slippers kitchen cup of tea
A piece of cheese bring it with me
To set a trap varmint for sure
That scratching stop and hear no more

Beside my bed set I the cheese
The room grew cold perhaps a breeze
Trap set sipping my tea in bed
Next morning found me lying dead

Above my body I did rise
Staring down at those huge rat eyes
My eyes were first then facial skin
Beware that scratch now it's within

Within your walls beneath the floors
Creeping through halls around the doors
So small at first then growing tall
That scratch I heard within the wall

My first apartment was in an old home in Northeast Philly/Frankford section and first I was invaded by gigantic creepy crawlers then one night came a big rat with bright red eyes in the dark. Suffice to say the bugs I could deal with but the rat, no way, by the next night I was living in another apartment in a different section of the Northeast Philly...-e-

No creatures in my home. They were in my garage. I found a way to get rid of them. Creepy. Much love and peace to you,

Regis. 😍

A turn of tables poem that may have come from a dream. You certainly have held our attention with this one.

I vividly remember watching a short film of a greedy fisherman pulling in stripers from the surf and throwing them on the beach. Always hungry and eating. When he spots a candy bar he goes for it, picks it up, and takes a bite. A large hook appears in his mouth and a cable springs up from under the sand, pulling him into the deep as he struggles in the sand. Shocked me!

years ago I lived in an upstairs apt. in an old farmhouse. I kept a bag of dog food in the kitchen closet, and wouldn't you know it, rats chewed through the wall to get to the dog food, and then I could hear them scratching and moving around behind the walls. My best estimate was that there were at least 5 or 6 rats behind the walls. Setting traps didn't work so I resorted to rat poison. The rats all died, but unfortunately, they died behind the walls, and let me tell you, that apt. stunk like hell for a long time, and it had to be during winter. An experience I'll never forget. I also learned not to leave dog food in an unprotected bag, and easy access for rat dining. Loved your creeping creepy poem.

Hmmn, this seems to a an insightful symbolic value that I will consider seriously. I think many of us hear a scratching on the wall! Cool write, Jane.
