Forgotten Fragrance

A beautiful heart is broken and life goes on unaware of its essential aroma

Poem Artwork

Crushed petals line a dusty road/

their/

fragrance swirls in windstorms/

ephemerally/

life goes on/

cars drive past, rapidly/

catching only distorted glimpses of her pain/

and the stains/

left behind/

where her heart was trampled underfoot/

and laid/

in a perfumed field of blossoms/
a beautifully aromatic grave

The line getting my attention most is: "catching only distorted glimpses of her pain/" and the rapidness of passing cars that leave such an achingly laid-out scene is quite a visual, Shirley. ~~ Diana

Artistically profound, Shirley. To me the crushed petals, and those trampled underfoot, and ignored by the passing cars are symbolic of a human heart who life has not been kind. You are so good. I so wish I had your flare.
