Thought For Today

My life is mine to live as I choose,
by the decisions I make I can win or lose,
they say one day I will answer, for all I've attained,
was it all for the world, or did I share his blessed name,
the world says one thing, God says another,
and I laugh at those Christians who say love your brother,
I'm living the good life,I can sing my own song,
yet I wonder if the Bible is right, and I could be wrong?
what if there is a hearafter, and a God I will see,
while in this world, I still live just for me,
I want all the world has to offer, the deck stacked for me,
but what if I discover, the world's been lying to me,
my heart should be singing a happy, happy song,
but deep inside of me, I hear a voice that says...what if your wrong,
I hear Christians say, Jesus is coming again,
and the doors of salvation will be closing on sin,
on the outside I'm laughing,but don't go by what you see,
on the inside I'm scared of what will happen to ME!

Then as I grew older I developed pains. Then later actual sicknesses that still are with me. Then I had an epiphany. I said, to myself because no one else could know my secret fear, "I'm not going to live forever!" Then I actually thought of my own mortality and the possible punishment I might face for publicly professing my unbelief. I found that it was natural for me to believe in a higher power. From there it didn't take long to say that I do believe in God and he had sent his only begotten son to be the sacrifice that would bring even one such as I to the heart of the creator. He knows me and I hope that he will accept me into his embrace when it's time to leave my skin. May all my sins be remembered and forgiven..Bob
