A gentle breeze lifted a hushed whisper from the trees
where they stood overshadowing their dark reflections,
their grassy feet dipping into the still, green water.
Long-bodied insects walked upon the pond's mosaic,
lifting casually from sullen, telltale ripples
of surfacing fish. Nothing else moved along the bank.
