who have left their sons and daughters,
see the shadows of their beauty
reflecting on still waters.
From seed, they turn to dust,
fruit fallen from God’s vine;
you crushed young hopes and dreams
spilling sacred breads and wine.
You could build a bridge back to life,
yet still you close your gates;
the sun sets on holy waters
in the darkness, the reaper waits…
Time will not show you mercy,
when you become the lost;
you shunned the youth of summer,
now feel the winter’s frost!
Spring will bring new flowers,
rewards for your life’s deeds;
placed above your graves
like you, they turn to weeds.
