... this is how Poetry makes me feel: six inches taller than I actually am!! :)) Hmmm... maybe this is a bit Artist and Model-y?? Anyways, missin y'all, People, and hope to catch up with you this weekend... Am havin a hairy time with my Mother. LOL K xx

Poem Artwork

SCULPTURE

You are the perfect shape of space
in the hollow of my thoughts

The precise image of swirls
on the marble of my thumbprint

The pristine plaster cast of my
Venus di Milo

The counter to my tension

And the exact meaning of the word
“Obsession”

Beautiful the way you shaped these words like literary clay into a veritable SCULPTURE of compelling concept, enigmatic image, and lyrical significance.

You are an exceptional writer, Kate. You've made obsession sound healthy and acceptable. Good for me since when I become a bit obsessive over the object of my affection people pop out of the woodwork to tell me "get some help" and to have better "self-esteem." LOL. What happened to being in love? Is it now classified a sickness from which adults must be protected? Humans are such a nutty lot. Wonderful write! ~~Nordette

excellent, Kate ... your poem encompasses the fine contours of poetic sculpture and leans into the inner tension of finely shaped images ...

There is motion in this poem, Kate, as the reader senses the thought cast into the perfection of the object that has become the obsession of the artist. It is a bit about creation from the soul being realized in the physical realm. My prayers are with you and your Mum, Kate. Your absence has been noted and I hope that your life settles down enough soon that we will find your footprints all around the Den, again.(whoa! that rhymes...no matter what I do I can't seem to escape rhyme-lol) Don't feel pressured to be here and comment, we all understand that you are going through a challenging and emotional time and we all wish you well moreso than we need your commenting on our poems...easy for me to say, huh? I rarely write anyway! LOLOLOLOL. Be well, Kate.
Take care,
Sherry

I almost enjoy the fact that I don't understand some of your poetry. It doesn't matter because I love the flow and brilliance of words that are yours alone to combine as you wish. Good luck with your mum.

As I am obsessed with YOUR words, dear friend and Poet! I have missed you--Mother and you ever in my prayers.

Beautiful poetry--no wonder you stand so tall, you have reason to be proud. I wish, I wish, I WISH I could write like this--effortlessly; flawlessly....sigh. :) BRAVA!

(((((HUGS))))) and love, Karla.

Please keep Karen's and my Daddy in your prayers, he's in hospital with a compression fracture of the third lumbar vertabrae and a subdural hematoma in his spine, lowered kidney function, yada yada yada. He's 75 years old and wants to do everything he used to do, this slowing down is driving him NUTZ! *THANKS*

This is a wonderful and intense obsession Kate
The skilled sculptor chips away at the rudimentary mass, until the object of his desire is realised !
Your absence has been noted from the Den Kate !
You are in my thoughts and prayers, as is your Mum !
Peter
