This photo came to mind when reviewing Janet's recent poem "End of Permanents", recalling the days of the summer of 95 - recorded here as part of a montage. Yes, my hair WAS wavy then... but obviously not permanently so! :)) K xx
LIVING MEMORY
Eyes pierced expectant
membrane of rock pool skin,
scanned inner depths for life,
searched creviced secrets
and probed veiled mysteries
of underwater worlds
washed ashore in thimbles.
We cupped our hands and caught,
laughing as our liquid finds
slipped ungrasped through weedy fingers.
Children now are grown but
living underworld magic remains:
scent of sea spray is my hair,
quicksilvered scales my smile
and sky’s reflection fluid
in my penetrating gaze.
I can't imagine my silly poem having inspired this lovely write. But I'm glad it did. I love your long hair! The picture reminds me of myself and my two little blonde headed boys at the beach.
wonderful imagery, nothing like long hair unpermed;-) Mine was like that .though shorter now I never had a perm, often wondered what it would do to my natural wavy hair. Hate beauty parlors...
And, now, you're master of the montage of nature below the water line... a seaside setting of outstanding ventures. Well done, as you get into living by the sea to marvel daily at its mysteries. Bon voyage!

Me and my children spent many a sunny day investigating the tide pools at Tybee Island. Those memories aare rich for the complete passion it overtakes upon the recall.
Thanks for taking me back there.
Susan
Your verses remind me of how much I love the tide pools and the wondrous things that we find in them. I grew up spending a lot of my time by the sea, every creature or shell the proof of a secret world that I had yet to experience. Knowing that I lived above the water and all that lived below was like a fairy tale waiting to unfold. Your words cut right through the years and found me sitting amid the rocks at minus tide, feeling the salty breeze in my hair, and the bright yellow sun kissing my skin. Your images are alive, Kate!!
Take care,
Sherry
This fascinating and compelling montage paints a pictorial vision of golden days gone by, whereour spirit still lingers in the metaphysical draughts of life..
You invoke deep emotions and intense feelings in this reflective write, Kate !

Hi Kate, sweet irony as I sit here reading your tales of the surf I am munching down on a lobster sandwich and I can almost here the surf in the background.

Mary Angela Nangini's poems celebrate the richness of life and love. From the city to cottage-country and the roads in between, Nangini explores the changing seasons of her varied region. (This book will soon be reprinted in hard cover.)
This collection of poetry addresses the nature of time, reflections on the natural world, the difficulty of loss,
contemporary social issues and gratitude for life.
Amazing where a trail of thoughts can take a poem.
Queen Kate of the underworld?
Your memory is enough to paint the picture on our minds--beautifully done, as usual!

"Precious memory of days gone by
whether written in sand or in the sky
provides us blessings, to behold,
preserving our youth as we grow old."
All the senses enjoy beauty upon reading this poem today. See what you did ... you inspired me to write a short verse!
Love & Light,
