Apache Prayer
........................
Now you feel no rain
for each of you will be a shelter to the other
now you will feel no cold
for each of you will be warmth to the other
now you are two bodies
but there is only one life before you
go now to your dwelling place
to enter into the day of your togetherness
and may your days be good and long upon the earth
.......................................................................................
I hear the beat of the drums echoing in the distance
the gathering gloom envelopes the prairie
wild coyotes are yipping on the bluff
and I am on my way back to you
I have fought many battles
survived skirmishes along the route
walked the trail of the desert fox
certain our paths will cross again
listened to your voice whispering softly in the night
and seen your unforgettable face flickering in my camp fire
nothing else matters but you and I
you are my great obsession
I have faith in you
as you have faith in me
we are different from the rest
because we dare to believe in magic
I move swiftly and silently across the high plains
closing the gap rapidly between you and I
like the red tailed falcon spiralling above
I see everything there is to see
your mirror image imprinted within my heart
the sound of your loving voice resonating in the chambers of my mind
I feel your angel fingers lovingly supporting my soul
awash I am with your tender kisses
sweet nourishment of the inner spirit
knowing my love you are waiting there for me
at the end of the ardous and broken trail
is all that really matters
