I walk across the deserted landscape of time
seeking that, which once was
all around a barren horizon
devoid of all meaning and rhyme
I move purposefully, through the waist high bracken
knowing I must remain, vital and young at heart
the snipe drums its welcoming call, in the heather
I have renewed spirit and soul, in my sinews
the voice within whispers, its glorious instruction
thou hast done well, my faithful son
for you have accepted, my word to the letter
and let me be the director, of your steps
that's what it takes, to be humble and contrite
as the tang of the restless sea, filled my veins
I see once again, those who have made me
their smiling eyes, gladden my senses
reminding me, over and over
never forget , who you really are
