Poem Artwork

It's still there, the Telegraph Hut on the sandy white Hebriden beach.

Inside its small domain, our initials are still carved within a small loveheart

A testimony to a time and love that never dies, and that can never perish

At least from my side alone

I can never say a bad word about you, for if I did, I would be breaking my solemn pledge

My true side of the betrothal we made many moons ago, alas never to be fulfilled.

What broke it, I don't know, you said we just drifted apart

I know that is not true , because I never drifted anywhere

I remained loyal to my vow, though it cut me in two

And though millions of sobbing tears were shed, it's true the pain never goes away

It just learns to find a place where it does not hurt anymore, as life must go on.

Yet Today, I started loving you again, as I walked alone and destitute along the solitary shore line.

I came across a deserted sandpiper's scraped hollow of a nest

With still two abandoned eggs within the shattered sea shells and sand.

It made me think

Those two forlorn eggs represented the two shades of me.

One that was beaten and defeated

The other that rose with pride and spirit

I know which one I prefer

Nice visual imagery as shown in your other poetry. One needn't say goodbye in order for it to be said. If a poet sees the world then the world sees him. Sadly goodbyes often are spoken as a reflection of reality. Is a fixation on a person who can't handle such, a rejection of what creates (birth and death) and a wall to the reality of love in its existence within the eternal?

Well stated my friend and yes we all must face those heart wrenching decisioins from time to time throughout our lifes. Our strength is to find a way to go on and grow.

There is depth of meaning and emotion in your verses, Peter. This is the kind of poetry to which I (my heart and soul) can relate as I have experienced this. "Yet Today, I started loving you again..." These words reminded me of the song:

Love and peace to you, Peter.
