Poem Artwork

But where do you go to my lovely
When you're alone in your bed
Tell me the thoughts that surround you
I want to look inside your head

I've seen all your qualifications
You got from the Sorbonne
And the painting you stole from Picasso
Your loveliness goes on and on, yes it does "

Peter Sarstedt

..............................................................................................

We left Gay Paree, to sojourn down on the French Riviera

bronzed and elated, and so deep in eternal love

we rendezvoused on the Cote D'Azur

and brushed lips divinely in Marseilles

where you told me baby, you were mine for all time

as we frollicked and played, in the aquamarine Mediterranean

breathless sleepless nights, when I held you so tight

kissing your forehead, you knew I was your man

as the phosphorus danced, like diamonds in the sea

an idyllic background, to the music of our souls

we took Cannes by storm, and sailed by summer yacht

life was good to us, as we gave it all we got

buoyant with youthful exuberance, the nectar of the Gods

timeless episodes, which we bottled one by one

Monte Carlo was smiling, as we paraded with the Kings

I caressed your face, and saw love smile back from your eyes

as gossamer winged swallows, circled overhead in joy

the die was cast, we would remain together always

as you drifted in my arms, on the canals of Port Grimaud

my heart was beating, an overwhelming message to you

soft as midnight tendrils, je t'aime mon cheri

I love this Peter - like a part 2 in the international series.

"buoyant with youthful exuberance, the nectar of the Gods" This is a great parallel you've drawn, and yes, I remember those days well, when everything worked well and when you wanted it too.

Another consistent and beautiful write. Sir Peter ... I agree with Taylor, they're starting to line up for this romantic stuff. I smell a book in the making!

Hmmm...looks for the most part, with only a few exceptions I see, that the ladies are lining up for another episode of your trip to romance...and the south of France this time. ;-) How coincidental that that very place was just suggested as a must do destination just days ago. But drat, the romace was left out of the suggestion! Thank you for filling in the missing links.

La vitesse de Dieu dans vos voyages éternels par le roman avec votre amour le plus précieux.

Love,
Taylor

Oh, for Pete's sake! This had the most profound effect on me, Peter...I wept! Because it is so infinitely beautiful...

Your poetry is alive! It soars and flows, and sings, and speaks directly to the heart...it is incomparable.

To me, you truly are the Master of Romantic Poetry.

God bless you, Peter.

Wonderful write!! You are such a romantic...I can tell. LOL You make it obvious in your poem that your love and admiration for this woman exceed all of the beautiful scenery that you describe. Love it Peter!

Noe THAT is the way to bring the love front and center in a dramatic and very cosmopolitan, but personal way . . . Gotta love it.
