Romantic Yearning

Poem Artwork

Every so often you come to mind, a significant love like ours could
never die.
Eternal. Immortal.Indestructible.Meant to be.

Borne on the silver wings of a distant far flung star, but
agonisingly now, just out of reach of my two open arms.

The sheer longing, the acute missing, the smouldering passion between us never slips or fades away. It just grows and waxes stronger like the surge of the rolling sea.

But just like the blackbird builds its nest faithfully every spring, the
solid foundations of our fatal attraction remain firmly in place, safe
from displacement or erasure, and impervious to the shifting sands of restless time.

Can it be these priceless, emotional treasures are meant for only a
finite time?

Or is it just the intensity or single mindedness of the staccato beat of my own true  heart that beguiles ?

Does one love more deeply than the other, and if so, is that a sin, weakness or virtue?

Can lost love ever be truly recovered and the clock turned back ?

Or must we wait patiently till the ends of time, for our
sweet reunion in spirit sublime ?.

All I know is.

I will never stop loving you, even though drifting time,
myriad circumstances and vast space have come irretrievably between.

Certainly a great longing, and yet a "fatal attraction," illustrating some flaw in the relationship that made it impossible to achieve in this time and place.

Intriguing and interesting to wonder who and what it was that will not be forgotten, "through drifting time."

A moving piece of poetic prose concerning the one you love(d). I can bear witness (from personal experience) that even the mundane becomes sacred when true love is there. You questioning your ‘intense single-mindedness’ is something I can relate to. No matter the struggle, we must become who God the Creator called us to be with a prayerful, whole-hearted, single-minded focus. This life is basic training for something far beyond our ability to comprehend. Thanks for sharing Peter… rlc

I can completely relate to the sentiments (meaning) that you express through your verses here, Peter. I experience this every moment... ...and wait since this world/life/society does not allow us to be together at this time. Love and peace to you,

Regis. 🍁

The complexities of love and our hearts can never be figured out in one lifetime...perhaps...in reincarnation we get a do over and learn where we went wrong. ... fee
