Sedona

Poem Artwork

 A gorgeous vista filled with deep, salubrious, spiritual overtones and undertones.

Met my gaze, amid the crunch of red sandstone reverberating
under my measured and careful steps.
 
Alive and agile to the sacredness of these towering buttes, arches, mesas and slot canyons.
I make my meandering, paced way with stealth, precision and focus soaked in the torrid heat from a blazing,unguarded sun.
 
Seeking out shelter from the cottonwoods and ponderosa pines along the trail
I stop and recover periodically, for to take on water and substenance to maintain my relentless advance.
 
Sitting silent and motionless, I observe and watch, listening intently to the drum of the woodpecker above in the canopy
 
I spy the sudden,upward movement of a tree creeper scaling the sheer trunk of an Arizona white oak.
 
Bonded to nature in immeasurable ways, I feel at peace with myself and my Creator in wondrous inner jubilation.
 
Forging on down the well trodden path before me, I reach the objective of my long held quest.
 
A circular, flat, smooth topped boulder, that holds hidden and heartfelt memories for me.
Stretching out along its welcoming diameter, I make myself one again with your soul.
 
And close my eyes softly in the shimmering heat and silent stillness.
I drift magically way back to a forgotten time.
 
When you were all mine.

Told like a wonderful story but with the melody of a poem. Stirs memories of lost loves and broken hearts.
