This writing sprang from the illustration that fact and fiction are a married couple, sleep in the same bed, spoon each other, toggle their singularity, their coupledom, are up for debate, up for renewal, wagging the dog, dogging the wag, duping each other and back again, on our doorsteps, begging for food.
Dog
The dog was here
I put her everywhere
She was one and ten
Here and there again
All at once — all together
one at a time
Not even mine, I
cloned her
The snow was here
Real cold freeze
Ten dogs she be
Yet only one — or none
Not what you see
The dog wasn’t here
just me
1/8/2022 digital art and text by djl. Procreate digital art program is great for cutting and pasting images into a scene. I used a few photos of my daughter's Australian Koolie, Roo, and put Roo on our doorsteps, replicating the images to create many dogs. It was so much fun!
You are clearly creative and artistic, Diana. That's wonderful. And your verses and choice of images are witnesses to this fact. Love, peace, and best wishes to you,
An engaging piece as it proves the maxim that imagination proves irreplaceable when reality delivers less than hoped for. Seems there's a lot of that going around lately. Thought-provoking write.
This book represents a thirty-day period of my poetry journal. Each poem addresses
the dominant thoughts occupying my mind during the early morning hours of a given
day.
Dear readers, this is my third book of poems, and inside are a special collection of what have turned out to be not only MY personal favorites, but also the favorites of many of YOU. Some of these have never been available in print before...
