On together they prowl
one of bark, one of growl.
One wearing her police on-duty vest
one unleashed for the hunting quest.
Paw to paw they in unison stalk
deer or rabbit or red-tailed hawk.
Their animal selves one and the same.
Together they are both wild and tame.
On a television show last night, Ride with Norman Reedus (of Walking Dead fame) motorcycling through Utah with his companion, Keanu Reeves, they happened upon a unique dog rescue program. Some of the dogs there were hybrids with wolves.
The woman described them as having a very pleasant disposition, but to beware when the wolf would suddenly appear in them. Why they were in rehab for having attacked their owners. Later, they pulled a 4 wheeler loaded with 4 people with ease because most of them were bred to be sled dogs and very powerful runners. Leash (harness) if required. ;-)
You've penned a fine, succinct depiction of paradox in life. If only humans of wild and tame were as conscious of portrayal as a dutiful animal. Few words, vast association with a reality too few recognize. Enjoyed this immensely, finding the multiple readings were well worth the extra moments of pursuit.
