Poem Artwork

 The Crushing

I build a house

You tear it down

I choose a leader

You send a clown

I have a child

You made that choice

I cry at night

You hear no voice

I make a plan

You plan to wreck

I choose a path

You don’t respect

I build a life

You crush my ways

I choose to go

You make me stay

I build a house

You knock it down

I wear a heart

You wear a crown

It doesn't seem fair does it Diana when life does not balance itself out even worse when love doesn't come out equal, :( so touching the words and the emotion brought forth ,

Your image is stunning. And I believe I know exactly what you are writing about as we approach the election of a new president this year… Or an old president if you look at it the way I look at it.

When will the crushing oppression of women by uncaring men in power ever stop?

Your pics always seem to appropriately accompany your poetic tale, in this case, a tale of woe that an intimate relationship can become. The staccato feel of the poem has its own impact. I have written something similar, years ago, but I ended mine on an upbeat note. "I wear a heart // You wear a crown." Marvelous.

Love the artwork you've so perfectly married to this articulate, yet so simple, wordsmithing reveal. So open to interpretation, i.e., could be violence from within, or an entity outside, or a deity one could think had betrayed a faith. The art image takes on a melted or smashed impression on the ground that, for this reader, gives such depth to the layered experiences of this honest speaker of truth. Just marvelous energy generating moist eyes and associations in my own life. Thank you for the revelatory work.
