Poem Artwork

She wonders

If he ever notices…

Her reality

When donning freshly cleaned clothes,

Or slipping between cool silken sheets at night

He takes her with the careless enthusiasm.

of a schoolboy…

or a john

She wonders if he ever thinks…

Of her…

At all.

She watches him stride blindly off to his world

Of elegant women and graceless buildings,

In his crisp cotton shirts,

And gently knotted ties.

At the end of the day..

He returns

Silent and aloof

His eyes sliding round her

As he goes to his den and quietly shuts the door.

And she wonders ...

if her warranty has expired….
