Sometimes a single night's memory is enough to last forever...

Poem Artwork

Strangers In The Night

By: Fee

Have you ever been enraptured by a total stranger’s eyes

Perhaps in a bustling airport somewhere in the night

Has a simple smile stirred a long forgotten yearning?

A heat that you try to ignore but know you cannot fight

Have you ever sat down with a this kindred stranger

Shared buried thoughts you wouldn’t even tell a friend

Wondered as you sipped the drinks you’re sharing

Where your longing is really going to come to an end

Have you ever held a stranger in your craving arms?

When the loneliness of the dawning hours you fear

Felt like time has taken up and taken a vacation and

Left you free to love the one who’s at that moment near

Have you smelled the scent of perfume tinged with passion?

Sighed contented at intimacy first thing in morning light

Ran trembling fingers down an angel’s sleeping face

Marvelled at the magic wonder you captured in the night

Have you ever said goodbye to a name you couldn’t keep

Like a rose tucked in a book, a folded memory in your mind

The night two perfect strangers met to share some magic

In a world where that kind of magic is so hard to find…

Very nice, Fee. It brings to mind a fave tune for me by the late Dan Fogleburg - Auld Ange Syne (sp?). Truly enjoyed the pic and write - thank you for sharing.

Yes Fee, I did said goodbye to a name I couldn't keep...and I regreted it for a long long time.
It was one those "what if" that will haunt you for life.
Lately your poems have become...je ne cest quai...maybe a mellow tone of tenderness? a yearn hiding under the words? a soul in love?

Did that once, bout 25 years ago. Funny thing though, met that person again about 2 years back..wondered if it really was the same bloke!
I must of been a sad case after Kev's death back then and so plastered with meds to keep afloat.
Turned out instead of brown loving eyes, he actually had green slanted cruel eyes, and an attitude to boot.....Ch'erie took to scrapers...HAHA confessions of a messed up young adult!
I trust strangers in the night now, like a hole in the head LOL.
Ty for that. We all need to think on these things

Fee,
I especially like the line "Like a rose tucked in a book, a folded memory in your mind" - love the visual that produces! I think you may prod memories for some with this piece. (And incite jealousy in others...lol.) You've harnessed a sensual mood here, filled with mystery. An exceptional effort! Hugs:)

Beautifully penned, Fee, once you take a stranger in your arms, they are no longer an unknown. :) Well done.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Love the illustration, too.

Lucky for us that particular magic happens to most everyone at one time or another. You've penned the experience wonderfully. The title captured me right off as it's one of my favorite Frank Sinatra hits. Think I have every song he ever recorded on CD. Keep that ink flowing Fee.
Hugs,
Marcia

I never get lucky like that.
I'm usually to busy trying to convince them I ain't trying to get in their pants, which of cours isn't true at all. Maybe I'm using the wrong approach.

Fee, this reminded me of one of those old black & white flicks about two people meeting in a bar...something like a Bogart movie. Nice write.

Easy answer: YES, INDEED!!
The longing for secrets and the passion of the unknown stirs a different level of desire, only to be satisfied by a stranger's touch.
Loved it, Mate!
Morning hugs,
Becca~
