People judge but people have no right to judge anyone...only one person has that authority...

Scenes and Sorrows

If…we as one love stand tall together

even if the grim reaper deems fit to stall

outside our own tear-rusty hinged door

then sweet life memories we’ll hang in past

sincere will be our smiles, our heads tall

proudly to bow as we take final curtain call

on a stage where our lines were muted

so be our parts in passion earthly cast

thus history cannot deny true love lost

tears we paid and  heart aches our cost

no one can hope to get what they seek

things worthwhile have tagged their  price

so we’ll hold what we bought forever tight

cherish it’s value through tomorrow’s night

some say true love is but a fleeting gamble

hold my hand then while fate rolls our dice

let it be said in fool’s book of time immortal

our hearts listed as one in passion’s journal

if the merciful Gods deem not to offer reprieve

from morality predicted depths of lost despair

we’ll gladly pay the price and not think twice

as the gates are locked to souls stripped bare

Good poem-I agree with Juliet about the last line though, as I found myself rereading that stanza and wondering what that meant because as she said, souls stripped bare are probably the only ones TO make it through. I think in life people will always pass judgement-- it's human nature- but really, who cares? I think when we have to fight it, sometimes we believe a little of what is being said. One thing I've learned in the years past is that words only have the power WE give them-so if we know someone is full of crap, it's really pointless to even get worked up about-usually the reaction they want. Though some can become addicted to the scenes and sorrows for some weird reason, setting themselves up for them repeatedly, we don't have to ourselves. Though, maybe I am an optimist, as I disagree with the third and fourth lines of the second stanza, because worthwhile things, aren't things and can't be bought, and as is the case, those "things" are usually free, far from being tagged with a price-yes, life has many scenes and sorrows, but we just have to ignore them and move on. Very thought provoking poem, indeed.

Thoughtful, deep and beautiful, too. I think, however, that "souls stripped bare" are probably the only ones to make it through the gate.

Seems like a dark write for you, Fee, but it's also a ballad of life. Our experiences shape us, and only One knows the truths. Profound, with a dramatic ending. Love and Hugs,
Sheila

Great pen and great message... people judge on so many levels and in the end it matters not. Myrna

"...tears we paid and heart aches our cost..." my friend, that's so true, so true...your hand in writing on the white snow that enshroud your deepest sorrows and yet, the words have the warmth of spring.

Georg
