Dream Thoughts

In bed last night I felt a shiver

From the night breeze off the sea

In a room lit only by moonbeams

Restless mind wouldn’t let me be

I thought about the day’s events

About the past…all things gone by

Felt a little wave of sadness break

Almost just enough to make me cry

I thought about the days to come

That stretch so quickly into years

With a heart’s dreams unfulfilled

Swimming in a lake of wistful tears

I thought about all the “what ifs”

How they so easily flow around you

I know that time is the great decider

But that sometimes dreams come true

And somewhere in all that thinking

I fell to sleep just thinking of your kiss

I think sometimes we think to much

Instead of holding to our lover’s wish…
