Just Another Dream
Cozy, deserted shack on a North wood island
Wood fire crackles to life on a gray, rainy day
Escape from the real world, alone you and I
Eyes melt into each others, almost like foreplay
So our lips do the talking, like words never could
Love craved for, longed for, forever it seems
Heart, soul and body, all united, together as one
A wish finally fulfilled of our long-lasting dreams
A battered old radio plays scratchy love songs
We sway to the music, heart beat, to heart beat
Enraptured, captured moments cherished for all time
I dance but don’t feel the floor, I don’t feel my feet
Flickering stub of a candle, sun starts to go down
Exhaled breath carries sweet lover’s words so true
We make love on a nest of quilts thrown on the floor
Our passions unleashed, behind a drafty pine door
Then the dream turns to daylight, I awake all alone
Crestfallen, that we’d never get to share even a day
To hold you, kiss you, to see you in the first morning light
Still, I once held your heart, no one can take that away…
Sometimes the dream is better than the reality
could have been...
So evocative...

By contrast, I couldn't create a poem of the two dreams I remember from last night. One was a cancer on my butt. When the doctor asked me had I exposed my butt to sunlight in the last couple of years, I had to answer, "No." Although I get a bit of sun every day, there is no way I can turn over in the wheelchair to expose my butt to the sun.
So I won't write that poem. ;-)
