"while faint images crawled the hallway floors
loneliness was present as if pure purpose
encased in impatience pierced and filled the void
with an oppressive sense of bleakness"
I must admit that I hate gloomy days, but when a lightning storm is brewing, I go out and sit on my back porch and watch it unfold while my wife hides inside.

Lovely writing, Carole. I so enjoy the rain. Your depiction of this scene is moving.
Carole, what a beautiful display of imagery, summed up perfectly
in the closing three lines. Also, I love these two lines:
while faint images crawled the hallway floors
loneliness was present as if pure purpose...

I agree with La Belle. This is an image rich piece that many of us have experienced during a thunderstorm or two. Thank you for sharing.

"... loneliness was present as if pure purpose encased in impatience pierced and filled the void..." brilliantly expressed, Carole. Another amazing write.

Dear Carole, first I am happy to see you again. Your description shines with wonderful colors. As I always say, I admire your style and your perfection. Be well, love Emile
this is classic Carole Mathys -- impressive imagery, emotion grabbing hand over hand with the next powerful thought -- I admire your talents my dear friend -- a beautiful poem -- may peace and love be always with you -- Jon Michael
Strong, arresting word choices and excellent use of image in this fine piece of work, Carole; "...the house seemed to gather its breath..." and "...loneliness was present as if pure purpose encased in impatience pierced and fllled the void..." are just two of the many examples of wonderful writing here.
Carole, you do not write a lot, but when you do what you write is so worth the wait. Beautiful! I can feel the storm's throbbing along with the electricity charged static. Great, thoroughly, verbally painted.

A further collection of poems, many from years in the Middle East, but also the California San Francisco and Central Coast areas (Santa Cruz, Carmel, Big Sur, Berkeley, etc.).
Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.

Beautiful metaphoric poem describing the spring storm which can be Mother Nature showing her fury. Loved it.
