An early poem that's had a re-vamp...one of the first in Tales from the Apocalyspe...who's mr gloomy tonight? lol!

Poem Artwork

M.A.D.

Dr Strangelove lived in a MAD, MAD, World

when fail-safe was the watchword,

when bellicose tyrants spat rhetoric

astute diplomacy was overheard.

Deterrent, a paradox of peace

now a silent uncanny menace.

An anvil for shoeing fairies,

a tinderbox, kindling dry.

Strike the flint, watch the scintilla

enjoy a brief happy death,

to be reborn again, in light,

a deterrent undercut.

A very strong portrait of the kind of officially sanctioned madness that too often passes for civil authority in the modern world. Clean, brilliant, and provocative lines.

You ARE turning into Robbie Williams, Jekyll and Hyde... all with the silver tongue and the suave DJs... well, you know me... I'll be singing "My Way" ALL the way!! I liked very much the peculiarity of weaving the delicacy of shoeing fairies into this kettle-drum cauldron of a write, Paul and the visual conjures the mood magnificently. Very much a Midsummer Night's... Nightmare!! Electric, thank you! Kate xx

An absolutely enthralling and original piece Paul
Very cleverly executed in that you feel you are reading five poems or aligned haikus rolled up into one
I love that dynamic line " Fail- Safe is the watchword !
Incredible picture blurs your vision !
You should post more my friend, and develope your cutting edge, and treat us to more of your earthy writes !

OH Paul! This is the money line--->"An anvil for shoeing fairies"
This is just so visual, throwing sparks! Lilliputian feet and striking flint to shoe them. Dr Strangelove indeed! I have a horseshoe I painted gold. It is said that a horseshoe should always be turned down, with the spikes pointing outward so one's luck won't fall. I have mine hanging just this way over my bedroom door. Works! The faeries/fairys visit me in my dreams. I really like this! The pic works its MAD to promote the poem. Excellent apocalyptic depiction.
