It's good to be back?

Poem Artwork

Return of the Beggar King

This storm I ride abates

It’s ripping winds no longer tear my flesh in strips

And feel no more the lash of rain-fingered whips

Nor the Hermetic haemorrhaging of

bloodied semantics so oft misunderstood.

Prow, mast and keel are restored

the men are restless and quick to be bored.

The winds are favourable, the winds are good

so like the beggar king of Ithaca

I return…untouched?

Very excellent write, Paul. The first of yours I've read...there will be more. Fascinating poem, entrancing in such short space. I don't think any of us return "untouched." That's only because we are constanctly changing.

Sounds like the poetic tongue of one Captain Ahab. Moby Dick has submerged for a while as he does in each of our lives when the storm clouds brew, and the birds ascend higher into the sky for safety. May you and your good kin enjoy calm seas and clear blues skies ahead for a bit.

Well, well, Mr Bond... where HAVE you been??!! Life at the front desk has been kinda... uneventful, to say the least! :)) Might have known you'd pick up on my Aldous Huxley ref in Rabbit... No, I haven't read Doors of Perception, actually, but spose I should... Just give me the synopsis and I'm sure I can relate. Right, back down the Nag's Head then and onto the Magical Carousel... give me date and time and Turner and we'll be away for slates (see... I CAN do Northern...)... Oh... and the poem... hang on... better read...

... Is it me or is that boat flying? See you got to the Caterpillar before I did, Dude... But "rain-fingered whips"... ooooooooo... and semantics are romantic in my book... If the men are ADD then set sail for the Perfect Storm... that'll keep 'em busy. "untouched?" seems to be the excitement those salty seadogs are looking for, so cop hold of Jack Sparrow's broken compass and I'll burst me Kiera Korsets in the bloody adventure of revenge and avenge... Tell me again what Ithaca's all about? Better summon up Orlando Bloomin Will Turner to provide the ballast... though he's Mr Supafit these days...

WOW Paul ... I thought you got lost dude! I was going to send you the URL for Map Quest! Considering the imagery in your power poem; you must have endured some trying times. Great image. For a moment I thought I'd drank too much coffee! (-:

I'm glad you're back, intact. Blessings dude!

Welcome home, Sparky! Chinook and teakwood decks scrubbed pristine with pinesol, long live the hermetics...meet you in the companionway, Paul...we haven't breached the rules of etiquette...there are no rules! Anchors away, mate and we test ourselves against the forces of nature...above all, we search for tranquil paradise before the heavens were littered with satellites...clear bluewater sailing, baby!
